Or compose your own from twenty-four materials, twelve from India and twelve from Australia, and choose your wax: soy, the coconut and rapeseed house blend, beeswax, or granulated sand.

A note from the house
We made this one first, and we still light it when guests are due. Twenty minutes after the match the room stops smelling of a candle and starts smelling of the house, as if it had always been that way. Sandalwood from Mysore does the settling; a little mountain pepper from Tasmania keeps it awake.
Made most often for the first dinner in a new home.

The story
We named the first candle after the house because it is the house. Sandalwood is the oldest luxury India has ever exported, and Mysore's is the one perfumers still whisper about: milky, soft, almost edible.
Tasmanian mountain pepper wakes it up: the berry of a rainforest shrub, sweet first, then a flush of warmth. In the candle it arrives about twenty minutes after lighting, as if someone had opened a window on the sandalwood.
Light it when guests are due and you want the house to smell like it has always smelled this way.
