A note from the house
Four in the afternoon, when the light turns gold and the day can be forgiven. First-flush Darjeeling and the wild honey of the leatherwood forests are what is in it; a chair by the window is what it is for.
Made most often for people who work from home, and for mothers.

The story
The first flush is picked in March, when the Darjeeling bushes wake after winter and the leaves are pale and almost floral. Perfumers borrow it for its muscatel note, a grapey brightness nothing like tea in a cup.
Leatherwood honey comes from a tree that grows nowhere but Tasmania's west-coast rainforest: resinous, floral, faintly medicinal. In the candle it is the glow behind the tea.
Light it at four in the afternoon, when the light goes gold and the day can be forgiven.
